President Reginald Stoltzfus called the meeting to order at 7:00PM at the township hall with Trustees James Kiko & Michael Stewart present.
Approval of Minutes
Mr. Kiko moved to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the last meeting & approve as submitted. Seconded by Mr. Stewart. Approved. Financial reports approved as printed.
Mower Servicing & mowing employees
Mr. Don Gram reminded Cemetery Sexton Kirkpatrick that the lawn mowers need serviced before the mowing season begins. Mr. Dan Stowe said he would be one of the mowing employees if the township need to hire a new employee.
Road Superintendent Todd Kirkpatrick reported two funerals during the past two weeks and one more this week. He said we would like to chip & seal 6.7 miles of road this summer. Mowers & weed eaters are to be serviced. The New Holland tractor is leaking oil. The cutting edge for the one-ton truck has been replaced. He has one bid so far for tree trimming along roads. He is waiting for bids to fix the lights and for salt storage building. Mr. Kirkpatrick said a 12” culvert needs placed on Freed St. which will help Mr. Mercer with field drainage.
New Road Levy
Fiscal Officer Evanich reported that all the paperwork for putting the new road levy on the May 8th ballot has been completed. The levy will produce enough funds to blacktop nearly all township roads at a cost of 40 cents for each $100.00 of valuation.
New Fuel Tanks
The trustees are to request new fuel tanks from Powers Oil & Propane.
Various township business
Mr. Stewart reported that he talked to Gary Connors from the engineer’s office concerning Stark County cleaning out drainage ditches this year. Mr. Stewart also said an oil well company may help with the road for the new dry hydrant in Robertsville. Mr. Kiko reported working on the employee handbook is moving along. Mr. Stoltzfus is working on New Franklin drainage. Mr. Stoltzfus was contacted by a resident of Shady St. wanting street lights put
up along Shady St. He will find out what procedures are needed to have street lights installed.
Amended Minutes – Resolution 18-18
Mr. Stoltzfus moved to amend the Minutes from the Oct. 2, 2017 meeting to include “The Trustees decided a Special Meeting concerning Stark Parks and walking trails in Paris Township would be unproductive.” Seconded by Mr. Kiko. Upon a vote, Mr. Stoltzfus – Aye, Mr. Stewart – Aye, Mr. Kiko – Aye. Approved
No further business, Mr. Kiko made a motion, seconded by Mr. Stewart to adjourn and pay bills totally $18,959.17. Approved.
