Minutes of Paris Township Trustees

February 6, 2017

President Reginald Stoltzfus called the meeting to order at 7:00PM at the township hall with Trustees James Kiko & Michael Stewart present.

 

Approval of Minutes

Mr. Stewart moved to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the last meeting & approve as submitted.  Seconded by Mr. Kiko.  Approved.  Financial reports approved as printed.

 

AFLAC Insurance

Mark Henderson & Carrie Carter discussed the insurances available from AFLAC.  Trustees said Fiscal Officer Rudy Evanich will look into the different plans and advise trustees at the next meeting.

 

Road Report

Road Superintendent Todd Kirkpatrick reported patching roads and fixing culverts.  He gave pricing in compactors and trustees decided to rent a compactor when needed.  There was one funeral since the last meeting.  He also reported the Ohio Township Conference he attended was very helpful.  Mr. Stoltzfus reported the sign grant will be shipping signs soon.

 

Record Retention Committee Resolution 12-17

Mr. Kiko made a motion, seconded by Mr. Stoltzfus to elect Mr. Stewart as the Record Retention Committee President. Upon a vote, Mr. Stewart – Aye, Mr. Kiko – Aye, Mr. Stoltzfus – Aye.  Approved.

 

Resolution 13-17

Mr. Kiko made a motion, seconded by Mr. Stewart to elect Mr. Stoltzfus as the Record Retention Committee Vice President. Upon a vote, Mr. Stewart – Aye, Mr. Kiko – Aye, Mr. Stoltzfus – Aye.  Approved.

 

New Fire Extinguisher Resolution 14-17

Mr. Kiko made a motion, seconded by Mr. Stewart to purchase fire extinguishers not to exceed $2,000.00. Upon a vote, Mr. Stewart – Aye, Mr. Kiko – Aye, Mr. Stoltzfus – Aye.  Approved.

 

Whitacre Ave.

Mr. Stewart said he filed a complaint with the Soil & Water concerning the flooding along Whitacre Ave.

 

Fire Equipment & Buildings

Trustees agreed to sell fire engine & tanker through the sealed bid process, then the real estate at auction.

 

Street light pole in Paris

Mr. Kiko said Ohio Edison still wants paid for a damaged pole in Paris.  Trustees decided it was not the township’s pole.

 

Elmview Property Resolution 15-17

Mr. Stewart made a motion, seconded by Mr. Kiko to not allow junk cars in the township according to the ORC. Upon a vote, Mr. Stewart – Aye, Mr. Kiko – Aye, Mr. Stoltzfus – Aye.  Approved.

 

Amend Culvert Resolution 16-17

Mr. Stoltzfus made a motion, seconded by Mr. Kiko to amend the township culvert policy. Upon a vote, Mr. Stewart – Aye, Mr. Kiko – Aye, Mr. Stoltzfus – Aye.  Approved.

 

 

 

USDA Grant

Mr. Stoltzfus reported checking on a USDA Grant for a tractor.  He is waiting to hear back from the USDA.

 

Permissive Vehicle Tax

Mr. Stoltzfus will ask the BMV for an audit of the township’s Permissive Vehicle Tax.

 

Executive Session

Mr. Stoltzfus made a motion, seconded by Mr. Stewart, to go into executive session to discuss personnel at 9:50pm.  Upon a vote, Mr. Stoltzfus – Aye, Mr. Stewart – Aye. Mr. Kiko – Aye. Approved.

 

Mr. Stoltzfus made a motion, seconded by Mr. Stewart, to come out of executive session at 10:08pm.  Upon a vote, Mr. Stoltzfus – Aye, Mr. Stewart – Aye. Mr. Kiko – Aye. Approved.

 

Township employment available

Trustees said they are looking for part time help that have a Class B CDL.

 

No further business, Mr. Stoltzfus made a motion, seconded by Mr. Stewart to adjourn and pay bills totally $34,428.34.  Approved.  Meeting adjourned.
