Minutes of Paris Township Trustees

March 5, 2018

President Reginald Stoltzfus called the meeting to order at 7:00PM at the township hall with Trustees James Kiko & Michael Stewart present.

 

Approval of Minutes

Mr. Stewart moved to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the last meeting & approve as submitted.  Seconded by Mr. Kiko.  Approved.  Financial reports approved as printed.

 

Nuisance Property

Mr. Lucas reported that he has called the health department again concerning the property on Telpahak St.  Mr. Stoltzfus said he has called also.

 

Agricultural Easement

Alex Czayka from the Western Reserve Land Conservation asked on behalf of Scott & Sharon Keister that the Paris Township Board of Trustees support the State of Ohio purchasing an agricultural easement on a portion of their farm.

 

Agricultural Easement Resolution 22-18

Mr. Stewart made a motion, seconded by Mr. Kiko to approve the application of Scott & Sharon Keister’s land for Ohio’s Local Agricultural Easement Purchase Program. Upon a vote, Mr. Stewart – Aye, Mr. Kiko – Aye, Mr. Stoltzfus – Aye.  Approved.

 

Road Report

Road Superintendent Todd Kirkpatrick reported replacing culverts on Telpahak St.  He dragged Walker Ave. and Telpahak St.  Patched Baywood & Paris Ave.  He received quotes on building a salt building in the amount of $35,000.00.  The new tractor joystick is fixed.  A discussion was held on Crowl St. drainage issues.  The south end of Calway Ave. will be extended this spring.  A discussion of the New Franklin drainage issue was had also.  Mr. Stewart said that two culverts need replaced on Whitacre Ave. because of flooding of the road.

 

New Fuel Tank

Mr. Kiko reported the cost of purchasing new double walled fuel tanks is $8,750.00.

 

New Fuel Tanks Resolution 23-18

Mr. Stewart made a motion, seconded by Mr. Kiko to approve the purchase of new double walled fuel tanks. Upon a vote, Mr. Stewart – Aye, Mr. Kiko – Aye, Mr. Stoltzfus – Aye.  Approved.

 

Powers Oil & Propane Resolution 24-18

Mr. Kiko made a motion, seconded by Mr. Stewart to approve the purchase of fuel & propane from Powers Oil & Propane. Upon a vote, Mr. Stewart – Aye, Mr. Kiko – Aye, Mr. Stoltzfus – Aye.  Approved.

 

Liberty Cemetery

Mr. Kiko said Attorney Babik is working to close the purchase of land for Liberty Cemetery and combining all the parcels for the cemetery.

 

Health Department Meeting

Mr. Stoltzfus reported attending the health department meeting.  The health department wants $1,900.00 more from the township in 2019.

 

Executive Session

Mr. Kiko made a motion, seconded by Mr. Stewart, to go into executive session to discuss employment 8:59pm.  Upon a vote, Mr. Stoltzfus – Aye, Mr. Stewart – Aye. Mr. Kiko – Aye. Approved.

 

Mr. Kiko made a motion, seconded by Mr. Stewart, to come out of executive session at 9:06pm.  Upon a vote, Mr. Stoltzfus – Aye, Mr. Stewart – Aye. Mr. Kiko – Aye. Approved.

 

Hiring cemetery mowing employee Resolution 25-18

Mr. Stewart made a motion, seconded by Mr. Kiko to approve the offering of the mowing job to Dan Stowe as a cemetery mower at $10.75 per hour. Upon a vote, Mr. Stewart – Aye, Mr. Kiko – Aye, Mr. Stoltzfus – Aye.  Approved.

 

No further business, Mr. Stewart made a motion, seconded by Mr. Kiko to adjourn and pay bills totally $25,188.03.  Approved.
