Minutes of Paris Township Trustees

June 4, 2018

President Reginald Stoltzfus called the meeting to order at 7:00PM at the township hall with Trustee Michael Stewart present.


Approval of Minutes

Mr. Stewart moved to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the last meeting & approve as submitted.  Seconded by Mr. Stoltzfus.  Approved.  Financial reports approved as printed.


Flite Test

Josh Bixler the owner of Flite Test and the new owner of Edgewater Golf Course discussed his plans for the Edgewater property.  He said there will be no runway for large private planes built only for RC Model planes and drones.  The property will remain a golf course for at least 3 years.  Most of the planes have electric engines so the neighboring homes should not be able to hear the planes in flight.


Crowl St Ditch

Norm Marko and Lisa Burman said the ditch along their properties needs work from all the flooding this spring.  Road Superintendent Kirkpatrick said Crowl St. will be chip & sealed this year so he will get the road ready for that which will include fixing the ditch.


Baird Ave Property Issue

Kim Bargerhuff ask about a portable toilet business located next to her property.  Mr. Stoltzfus had contacted the county health department about her concerns.  The county health department has no authority over empty portable toilets.  So the company operating legally.  She also has flooding issues along Baird Ave. that Mr. Kirkpatrick will address.


Road Report

Mr. Kirkpatrick reported patching of roads and berming continues.  The cemetery addition has been seeded.  The trustees are to see if any alleys in New Franklin can be vacated.  Mr. Kirkpatrick talk to Gary Conners at the engineer’s office concerning cleaning of drainage ditches.  There are three large culverts that need replaced.  Durley Excavating can replace the culverts at a cost of $1,800.00 each.


Culvert Replacement Resolution 30-18

Mr. Stewart made a motion, seconded by Mr. Stoltzfus to approve the hiring of Durley Excavating to replace three culverts at a cost of $1,800.00 each. Upon a vote, Mr. Stewart – Aye, Mr. Stoltzfus – Aye.  Approved.


Dead Ash Trees

Mr. Stoltzfus is the ask the attorney about dead trees on our road right-a-way.  Who is responsible for their removal?



No further business, Mr. Stewart made a motion, seconded by Mr. Stoltzfus to adjourn and pay bills totally $19,990.86. Approved.
